The Muro di Ca ‘del Poggio is a cycling climb located in the municipality of San Pietro di Feletto, in the province of Treviso, and is considered the symbolic climb of the Prosecco Hills which on 7 July 2019 were recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site . Formerly called via Pascoli, it officially took on its new name on 24 April 2010, after the agreement reached between the municipal administration, the Italian Cycling Federation and the local company Arcobaleno snc.
The climb, entirely asphalted, winds through the Prosecco hills for 1150 meters, with an average gradient of 12.7%, a maximum gradient of 19% and a vertical drop of 140 meters (between 102 and 242 meters above sea level).
Since 2016, the Muro di Ca ‘del Poggio has been twinned with the Grammont Wall, the mythical stretch of the Tour of Flanders. The prospect is that the twinning can generate new opportunities for the promotion of the territories, also thanks to the creation of a European circuit that brings together the walls linked to the history of great cycling.
With this in mind, on 12 July 2018 the twinning was also officially sanctioned which, to the ascent of San Pietro di Feletto and the Grammont Wall, also unites the Mûr-de-Bretagne, another famous ascent that made history of international cycling.
The Giro d’Italia passed six times on the Muro di Ca ‘del Poggio: in 2009, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2020 and 2022, when about twenty thousand people witnessed the passage of cyclists on the ascent of San Pietro di Feletto.
The Corsa Rosa also crossed the Muro di Ca ‘del Poggio in 2015 on the occasion of another time trial stage. The Giro d’Italia, this time reserved for under 23s, instead passed over the Wall on June 16, 2018, when the rise of San Pietro di Feletto was the protagonist of an unprecedented challenge against time in “Real time” that the prestigious youth festival concluded, returning to climb the climb of San Pietro di Feletto also on 12 June 2021.
The rise of San Pietro di Feletto also hosted the 2010 Italian road cycling championships, which took place on the Muro for 11 laps, and the Giro Rosa for two years (2012 and 2015).
On October 17, 2021, the inaugural edition of the Veneto Classic, a race for professional cyclists starting from Venice and ending in Bassano del Grappa, also passed through the Muro di Ca ‘del Poggio.
Numerous cycling trials which, during the year, include a passage on the Muro di Ca ‘del Poggio. Among them, the international youth races of San Vendemiano, San Michele di Feletto and Solighetto, as well as the Granfondo Pinarello and Prosecco Cycling, leading events dedicated to all fans.
On September 5, 2019, the short film “Non so come, ma è successo” by director Nazareno Balani, dedicated to the symbolic ascent of the Prosecco hills, took part in the 76th Venice Film Festival by winning the Glass Lion.
